Corrections
If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and note the change at the foot of the page with the date. Corrections that change a guide’s advice are also listed in the following Thursday’s entry, because a silent fix helps nobody who read the old version.
What we cannot do
We cannot tell you what your book is worth. We do not value, appraise or broker, and an off-hand opinion by email is worse than no opinion: it is unaccountable, it is based on a photograph, and people have sold books cheaply on the strength of exactly that. For a valuation, ask two dealers who handle your field and expect to pay for a written one.
We also cannot identify a book from a photograph of the spine alone. Title page, verso, and the gutter of one opening will usually do it.
