These terms apply to the HalfCalf website from 1 May 2026.
Use of the site
1. Everything here is published for private, non-commercial use by collectors. Read it, print it, quote it with attribution and a link.
2. Republishing a guide in full elsewhere is not permitted. The guides are revised as we learn we were wrong, and a frozen copy silently becomes bad advice.
3. Systematic copying of the site, whether by hand or by automated means, for republication or resale is not permitted.
No valuations, no trade
4. HalfCalf does not buy, sell, broker, appraise or value books, and nothing published here is a valuation or an offer.
5. Prices, estimates and sale results mentioned in reports are historical facts about particular copies on particular days. They are not a guide to what your copy is worth.
Accuracy
6. Guides are written carefully and corrected openly, but they are the work of collectors rather than a professional appraisal, and identification points in some fields are genuinely disputed. Where a matter is contested, we say so rather than picking a side quietly.
7. Decisions to buy, sell or treat a book are yours. We accept no liability for a purchase made or avoided on the strength of something published here.
Calendar and third parties
8. Calendar entries are listed as a service, free of charge, and their accuracy rests with the organiser. A listing is not an endorsement, and we take no payment for one.
9. Where a report is critical of a sale or a description, it is comment and honest opinion based on published catalogues and on attendance.
10. These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia.
